Do you use any poop as fertilizer in your garden? If you’re using chicken, cow, horse, etc. manure, you know you have to wait for a long time for it to compost before putting it on your garden. It’s so “hot” with nitrogen, it’ll burn up your plants almost immediately.

But, the same isn’t true for rabbit poo. I don’t know why manure from rabbits is “cool,” but hey, it’s really cool! You can put it right in your garden without waiting – like IMMEDIATELY. The little poo pellets break down over time like a sustained-release magic pill for plants, and ask anyone who uses rabbit poo, it’s MAGIC for your garden. Over time, it improves your soil structure, increases drainage, and help with moisture retention. It also doesn’t smell. 🙂

Some folks don’t like poo pellets around their veggies, so for you folks, you can dump anywhere from two cups to one gallon of poo in a 5-gallon bucket, fill with water, and let sit for a day to make rabbit poo tea. The tea soaks right down in your soil and you don’t have to deal with getting poo on your hands while you’re weeding.

And if you think rabbit poo is great in the garden, try adding a bucket to your compost pile. It kicks that nitrogen level right up!

One of the best parts about rabbit poo/rabbit tea/rabbit compost is that worms love it, so your friendly little worms thank you for the rabbit poo by digging little aeration tunnels in your garden, allowing more nutrients, water, bacteria, actinomycetes, fungi, algae, and protozoa to get down to your plant’s roots. Those little micro-bugs poo (yes, more poo) right at the root level, making your plants even happier, and in turn, growing more flowers, fruits, and veggies for you. It’s a win-win for everyone involved!

So, here’s how it works. Get some cute bunnies. Feed them a basic rabbit diet including lots of hay, fresh water, and scraps from the garden. Put their poo back in the garden. Have an amazing garden. And repeat!
